The unions, meanwhile, are exploring legal options. They could file a constitutional challenge, arguing the budget-bill measures violate their Charter rights, which guarantee freedom of association and collective bargaining. Other options include an unfair labour practice complaint with the Public Service Labour Relations Board, lodging a complaint with the International Labour Organization or staging work-to-rule campaigns.

I do not expect any of my FB Friends to worry too much about the dangerous situation just off the east coast of beautiful NL. Why should we, since the dangerous situation has been there for 30yrs? It's a sad story of how all the Fed. Gov'ts we've had in the past 30yrs have not cared about the 500 tons of petroleum (fuel oil and diesel) in the sunken M/V Manolis L. The cargo ship sank off Change Islands in 1985 on the Northeast Coast of NL. The peoples of NL have never forgotten this fact and have tried for since Jan 1985 to have the oil removed. The tiny oil spill in Vancouver opened Canadian eyes and the present Gov't did all it could to show quick resolve. If any of you take a moment to read even a tiny bit of the history using hash tag #SAVENL in Twitter or Facebook, I would be fairly certain you will feel as I do: * ashamed we haven't removed the 500 tons of oil; * shocked that Canada has allowed the sunken ship to rust at the sea bottom with 500 ton of oil; * embarrassed that in this "green" day and age, our Canada still hasn't attempted to remove the 500 tons of oil; * angry because you thought that any oil spill disaster would be dealt with fairly and equally no matter what part of the country it happened; * and most of all, you would feel like I do, to support the peoples of NL in their 30 yrs struggle to remove the 500 tons of oil. Please show your support by "Liking" and "Sharing" the FB Page: Manolis L Oil Spill Cleanup Effort (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Manolis-L-Oil-Spill-Cleanup-Effort/666787843372584) Thank you in adance. "Canadians have a right to expect that government employees and contractors undergo appropriate security screening which is a fundamental practice before being entrusted with public resources, or with the personal and/or sensitive information they provide when filing their tax return, applying for Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Disability benefits or a passport" This may be true, but it should read as: "Canadians have a right to expect that government MP's and Senators undergo appropriate security screening which is a fundamental practice before being entrusted with public resources, or with the personal and/or sensitive information they provide when filing their tax return, applying for Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Disability benefits or a passport" http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/unions-fight-new-federal-screening-rules-on-public-servants-1.3056841
