RCMP (Newfoundland and Labrador)Charges laid in Labrador fraud investigation September 14, 2015 St. John’s, N.L. – Following an extensive investigation into financial irregularities, the RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador’s Federal Operations Section have charged two former senior employees of the Innu Development Limited Partnership (IDLP) with criminal fraud. Mr. Paul Rich, former Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Edgar Branton, former Chief Financial Officer, have been charged jointly today with one count of Fraud Over Five Thousand Dollars contrary to section 380(1)(a) of the Criminal Code. The charge is a result of an investigation into allegations that these individuals misappropriated IDLP funds for personal use and gain and, in doing so, abused their positions of trust. The RCMP investigation began in February 2014 following receipt of the results of an independent financial audit of the IDLP. Mr. Rich and Mr. Branton have been summoned to appear in court to answer to the charges on October 6, 2015 at Provincial Court in Happy-Valley Goose Bay.
